Unlike big steel door makers, Woodrite builds doors to the exact opening of each customer. It does not offer a fixed range of stock sizes. This matters most on period homes, since their garage openings often do not match modern sizes. Most steel door ranges assume a standard 2290mm × 2250mm opening.
Why timber costs more than steel
A bespoke hardwood door costs far more than a steel up-and-over or sectional door. The reasons are solid timber, made-to-measure joinery and hand finishing. In contrast, a factory-line steel door is built to standard sizes. This keeps costs down for buyers who do not need a bespoke fit.
What upkeep to expect
