Hörmann
Hörmann is one of the biggest garage door makers that supply the UK. It is best known here for insulated sectional doors with 42mm and 67mm panels. It also makes roller doors and a smaller range of steel up-and-over doors. Since local installers sell it, prices and lead times vary.
Garador
Garador is a British maker with its factory in Yeovil, Somerset. It is one of the oldest names in the UK home garage door market. Garador makes steel up-and-over doors with canopy and retractable gear. It also makes insulated sectional doors, and side-hinged doors with a timber look.
Cardale Legacy brand
Cardale was a well-known UK maker of steel up-and-over doors. It fitted them widely across Britain from the 1970s to the 2000s. Cardale no longer trades in the same form, and its old spring drum gear is now mostly obsolete. As a result, owners of an older Cardale door usually choose between rare reclaimed parts and a switch to modern gear.
Teckentrup
Teckentrup is a German maker with a large industrial, fire and trade door business beside its home sectional range. It is a less familiar name than Hörmann or Garador. Even so, several UK installers use it as a fairly priced sectional option, because it competes on price.
Woodrite
Woodrite is a UK maker of bespoke hardwood garage doors, mainly in classic side-hinged and sectional styles. It builds each door to the exact opening, not to fixed stock sizes. For this reason, Woodrite sits at the top end of the market, aimed at older and characterful homes.
Wessex Legacy brand
Wessex was a well-known name in the older UK steel up-and-over market. Doors with its name are still in use in many British garages. Since Wessex no longer makes doors on any scale, finding old spares for its gear has become harder over time.
