Lifting cable

A lifting cable is a steel wire rope that connects the bottom corners of a garage door to the spring or drum mechanism, helping guide and support the door as it opens and closes.

A worn or snapped lifting cable is a common cause of a UK garage door jamming or hanging unevenly. Cable replacement typically costs £120–£250 and should always be carried out by an engineer given the tension involved.
